Adrien Jathe

Adrien Jathe is an inventor and entrepreneur who has successfully led many scientific projects. He has achieved a worldwide breakthrough with his invention Flash Shade- a technology for smart sunglasses. Adrien has successfully taken part at numerous international and most renowned science competitions and invention fairs. Due to his research excellence, he was invited to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden.

Currently he is founding his own start-up to bring the smart sunglasses to the consumer; a request made by many people worldwide.

Inspiration

Once when Adrien was the passenger on a car ride, he observed how the reflected sunlight from the wet streets made it impossible to properly monitor the traffic and the road signs. However, he realized that it was not only him who could not see, dozens of other people in the other cars speeding along the highway had the exact same problem. This got him thinking, there must a better solution to improve the horrendous light conditions other than using conventional sunglasses. To be honest, sunglasses are absolutely unsuitable for situations like these.

"My ambition to actively shape the way we are going to interact with new technologies in the future motivates me to develop revolutionary wearables."
Adrien Jathe | Inventor of Flash Shade

Events

May 2020 | Microhex is a system composed of concentrically alligned tubes that provide the smart sunglasses with the selective darkening capability. After patenting this system, an important step is to miniaturize and find commercial partners to produce this component. Adrien Jathe has designed and constructed his own glovebox system to facilitate the safe handling of an resin 3D-printer to produce prototypes of these Microhex plates.

He has partnered with another company to explore the abilities of using a Ultra-Short Pulse Laser to 3D-write this structure into a glass blank.

April 2020 |
Adrien uses the Anycubic Photon DLP resin 3D printer for the prototyping of micro aspect ratio structures in regards for his smart sunglass technology.

It is advised to wear N95 breathing masks and nitrile gloves when handling this resin printer. However, we believe that these resources should be reserved for doctors and health care workers, Adrien has designed a negative pressure Glovebox System that he has made publicly available. This file should allow researchers from all around the world to build a low-cost glovebox system themselves. Downlaod the STEP file here.
